Oil and Grease

These stains can be tricky, but don’t worry, we’ve got you covered.

  • First, grab some cornstarch or bicarbonate of soda and sprinkle it directly onto the stain. These powders work like magic to absorb the grease. Let it sit for about 10–15 minutes, then brush it off gently.

  • Next, apply a little dishwashing liquid (yes, the same one you use for your dishes) to the area and let it sit for another 5–10 minutes.

  • Finally, wash the garment in hot water — but be sure to check the fabric’s care label first.

For extra stubborn stains, you might need to repeat the process before hanging it from your SA Washline.

Ink Stains

Ink can be one of the most frustrating stains, but don’t panic!

  • Start by dabbing (not rubbing) the stain with surgical spirits or hand sanitizer using a clean cloth or cotton ball. Let it sit for a minute or two so it can break down the ink.

  • Then, blot gently until the ink starts lifting.

  • If the stain persists, repeat the process a couple of times.

  • Once the ink has faded, toss the item in the washing machine and wash as usual.

Pro tip: Avoid using heat (like a hairdryer or the dryer) until the stain is completely gone, as heat can set the ink.
